The NAIOP Raleigh Durham Mentorship Series brings together rising talent in commercial real estate with the knowledge, guidance, and perspective of senior industry leaders.
Through targeted, small sessions with mentors and peer connections, Developing Leaders gain meaningful opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.
The series is designed for young professionals (age 35 and under). Limited amount of seats are available for each mentor event. Seats are first come, first served.

Marcus Ginyard
Director of Special Projects
UNC-Chapel Hill

Marcus Ginyard was recently named Director of Special Projects at UNC-Chapel Hill, a role jointly supporting leadership in the Offices of Public Affairs and Finance and Operations.

In this position, Ginyard provides high-level operational and strategic support to the Chancellor, the Chief Strategic Officer and the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operations. His responsibilities include supporting the Secretary of the University in work with the Board of Trustees, coordinating Trustee special projects, representing the University at special events, and advancing pan-University initiatives in partnership with leaders across campus. Ginyard will also play a key role in community engagement and planning efforts for Carolina North, working closely with University and community partners to advance shared priorities.

Ginyard brings a unique blend of leadership experience, relationship-building expertise, and strategic insight to this role. Prior to joining Carolina, he worked as a commercial mortgage broker at Medalist Capital in Raleigh, NC. He also enjoyed an 11-year professional basketball career in Europe, playing for 13 teams across eight countries. As a former captain of the UNC Men’s Basketball team, Ginyard helped lead the Tar Heels to multiple ACC Championships and the 2009 National Championship.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Ginyard is deeply engaged in service and community leadership. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Carolina Alumni and for Make-A-Wish Eastern NC, and the Board of Visitors for the UNC Institute for the Environment, where he is Development Committee Co-Chair. He also shares his love of basketball as a broadcaster for the ACC Network.
